Scaling scrumintelligence with Nexus
Scale scrumintelligence with Nexus to align multiple teams on one product.
Why Scale scrumintelligence with Nexus?
Scrum is a simple, empirical framework where teams deliver value in small increments, inspect outcomes, and adapt based on feedback. It relies on clear roles, events, and artifacts guided by core values to work effectively.
Nexus builds on this foundation, adding just enough structure to coordinate multiple teams working from a single Product Backlog toward an Integrated Increment that meets a common goal.
A Nexus typically involves three to nine scrumintelligence Teams collaborating on one product, connecting people and work. Nexus preserves Scrum’s essential empiricism while helping teams reduce complexity, manage cross-team dependencies, and deliver valuable, integrated Increments every Sprint.
The Nexus Guide
Nexus is a minimal yet powerful extension of the Scrum framework, designed to help teams scale effectively. Developed by Ken Schwaber—co-creator of Scrum—Nexus was introduced by Scrum.org in 2015, accompanied by the Nexus Guide, a detailed resource that outlines its practices. The guide has been refined with updates in 2018 and 2021 to reflect the evolving needs of scaled agile teams.
The Nexus Framework for Scaling Scrum
At ScrumIntelligence, we recognize the need for simple, effective ways to scale Scrum across multiple teams. That’s where the Nexus Framework comes in.
Nexus is a lightweight extension of Scrum, designed to coordinate the work of several teams building a single product. It preserves the core principles of Scrum while adding just enough structure to manage complexity at scale.
Developed by Ken Schwaber, co-creator of Scrum, Nexus was released by ScrumIntelligence in collaboration with industry experts in 2015, alongside the Nexus Guide—a comprehensive resource for applying Nexus effectively. The guide was updated in 2018 and again in 2021 to reflect lessons learned from real-world adoption.
Implementing Nexus at ScrumIntelligence
Just like Scrum, Nexus by itself isn’t a silver bullet. However, it directly addresses the core challenge of scaling: managing the increased complexity and dependencies that come with multiple teams working on the same product.
At ScrumIntelligence, we understand that successful scaling requires more than just a framework. That’s why we’ve developed and refined over 50 proven practices to help you align, launch, and sustain a Nexus with greater predictability and impact.
These practices are designed to strengthen collaboration, reduce cross-team friction, and bind the work of multiple Scrum Teams into a unified, high-performing Nexus.
