Why this certification
The Certified Associate Scrum Master Plus by Scrum Intelligence is an entry-level Scrum Master certification designed for professionals who want to build a career in Agile project delivery. As organizations across software development, IT services, finance, healthcare, and manufacturing continue to adopt Agile ways of working, the demand for skilled Scrum Masters has grown steadily, making this one of the most sought-after entry points into Agile careers today.
A Scrum Master is the servant-leader of a Scrum Team. Unlike a traditional project manager, a Scrum Master does not assign tasks or control the team — instead, they facilitate the Scrum framework, remove impediments that slow the team down, coach the team toward self-organization, and help the organization understand and adopt Agile and Scrum practices. This makes the role equal parts facilitator, coach, and change agent.
This certification program is built around Scrum Intelligence's AI-powered learning platform, which adapts to your pace and reinforces concepts through scenario-based practice rather than rote memorization. You will study the Scrum Guide in depth — covering the three Scrum roles, five Scrum events, and three Scrum artifacts — and learn how to apply Scrum values (commitment, focus, openness, respect, and courage) in real team settings.
What sets this program apart is flexibility: you can complete it as a standalone Scrum Intelligence CertiPlus credential, or combine it with an official exam voucher from a globally recognized body — Scrum Alliance (CSM), Scrum.org (PSM I), or Scaled Agile (SAFe SM). This means you can start with foundational Scrum knowledge and walk away with a credential that is directly recognized by employers and hiring managers evaluating Agile talent.
Whether you are a project coordinator moving into Agile delivery, a developer or QA professional who wants to understand the facilitator's side of Scrum, or a student preparing for your first Agile role, this Associate-level Scrum Master certification gives you a structured, practical, and verifiable foundation to build on.
Who should take this certification
This certification is best suited for:
- Aspiring Scrum Masters with little or no prior Agile experience
- Project coordinators, team leads, or project managers transitioning into Agile roles
- Developers, testers, or business analysts who want to understand Scrum from the facilitator's perspective
- Students and early-career professionals building a foundation in Agile delivery
- Anyone preparing for an entry-level Scrum Master role or an official exam such as CSM, PSM I, or SAFe SM
The exam
The exam checks your understanding of the course topics and how to apply them to real team situations. You take it online on ExamVault once you have completed the course material.
If you choose a combo, you also take the exam for the partner certification you selected. Question counts, time limits and passing scores for partner exams are set by each partner organisation and can change, so check the partner’s website before you book.
The exam is taken online on ExamVault by CertExpert. Three attempts are included in the fee.
Career outcomes

Build a foundation for more advanced Agile career paths such as Agile Coach, Release Train Engineer, or Product Owner
Demonstrate practical facilitation and servant-leadership skills to current or prospective employers
Compensation varies significantly by region, industry, and experience level — research current salary data for your specific market rather than relying on generic figures.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need prior Agile experience to take this certification?
No. This certification is designed for beginners and does not require prior Scrum or Agile experience. The course starts from the fundamentals of Agile and builds up to practical Scrum Master skills.
What is the Certified ScrumMaster® (CSM)?
The Certified ScrumMaster® (CSM) is a globally recognised credential that validates your understanding of the Scrum framework and your ability to serve as a Scrum Master. It demonstrates that you can facilitate Scrum events, coach teams, and help organisations adopt agile ways of working.
What is the difference between the standalone option and the combo options?
The standalone option includes the Scrum Intelligence CertiPlus training and exam only. The combo options add an official exam voucher from a partner organization (Scrum Alliance, Scrum.org, or Scaled Agile), so you earn two credentials instead of one.
Is the exam fee included in the course price?
Yes, the course price covers three attempts of the certification examination. If you do not pass on the first attempt you have two more attempts included at no additional cost.
How long do I have to complete the course and exam?
You can learn at your own pace. Access to the course material does not expire, and you can schedule your CertiPlus exam attempt whenever you feel ready.
How long is the CSM certification valid?
The CSM certification is valid for two years. After two years you can renew it by completing Scrum Education Units (SEUs) and paying a renewal fee to maintain your certified status.
Is the certification recognized by employers?
The CertiPlus certification is issued by Scrum Intelligence and demonstrates verified knowledge of Scrum. If you choose a combo option, you also receive a credential from a globally recognized body such as Scrum Alliance, Scrum.org, or Scaled Agile.
Do I need any prior experience to enrol?
No prior experience is required. The CSM is a foundational level certification suitable for anyone who wants to learn Scrum and agile practices. Some familiarity with project work is helpful but not mandatory.
What happens if I do not pass the exam on my first attempt?
Retake policies depend on the exam you take. For the CertiPlus exam, contact our support team for retake options. For partner exams (CSM, PSM I, SAFe SM), retake policies and any associated fees are set by the issuing organization.
What is the passing score for the CSM exam?
The CSM exam passing score, question count and duration are set by Scrum Alliance and may be updated by them over time. As of your enrolment, refer to the official Scrum Alliance website for the current exam specification, or check the details provided with your exam voucher.
Can I upgrade from the Associate to the Professional certification later?
Yes. Many candidates start with the Associate-level certification and progress to the Professional-level certification once they have gained hands-on Scrum Master experience.
How is the training delivered?
Your CertiPlus course material is delivered online and is entirely self-paced. Once enrolled, you get immediate access and can work through the modules whenever it suits you — evenings, weekends, or in short sessions across a few weeks. There are no fixed class timings to attend and no need to take leave from work. The assessment is also taken online at a time you choose.
